Domain auctions

The auction is open to any natural or legal person established in the EU with a verified MojeID account and to EU individuals with a verified electronic identity.

Natural person from the Czech Republic

  1. Requires to have a MojeID account linked to government systems with a minimum level of assurance of “substantial”.

If you don't have a MojeID account yet, you can create one here. When creating it, select the "For personal use" option. You must be a permanent or temporary resident of the Czech Republic to access public administration services via MojeID. Securing your account and connecting it to public administration services is easy. Use our detailed instructions. The invoice for the acquired domains in the auction will be issued to the natural person.

Legal entities from the Czech Republic and EU

  1. Account validation is required

When creating an account, select "For your business", fill in the ID number and set up two-factor security. Validation can be done via Datová schránka or a certified request delivered to our address.

The invoice for the domains obtained in the auction will be issued to the details of the legal entity or self-employed person.

Natural person from the EU

  1. Requires an electronic identity with a minimum level of assurance of “substantial” (according to eIDAS).

You need to link your European electronic identity to your contact in the .CZ domain registry.

  • I have an EU eID and a contact in the domain registry - instructions here
  • I have an EU eID but no contact in the domain registry - instructions here

The invoice for the acquired domains in the auction will be issued to the natural person.

Natural person or legal entity outside the EU

  1. Persons outside the European Union cannot participate directly in the auction. If they wish to participate, they may do so through a representative based in the EU who meets the above conditions. This representative must have a verified contact

The invoice for the acquired domains in the auction will be issued to the natural person.

You set up the maximum amount (limit) you are currently willing to pay for the priority right to register a domain. You can always increase but not decrease the offered figure before the auction end.

The system then automatically bids for you up to the set amount so that you win the auction with the minimum possible bid

The minimum bid is based on the current price. Table with each step of minimum bids is available in part 5 of the Rules of Operation .

If you set a limit for a future auction to a certain amount, your limit will be compared to the limits of other bidders at the start of the auction.

The following situations may occur:

  • You set a limit for an auction before the auction starts as the only participant. The system will make a minimum bid of 100 CZK for you after the auction starts, which will put you in the lead.
  • You have set the highest limit for the auction before the auction starts. The system will take the second highest bid, add the minimum bid to it and you will go into the lead with that amount.
    • Example: You set the limit to 15 000 CZK. Another bidder sets the limit for the same auction at 11 000 CZK. When the auction starts, the system will make the first bid for you for 12 000 CZK.
  • You set the highest limit for an auction before the auction starts, but another participant sets the same limit. In this case, the user who set the limit first will take the lead
    • Example: You set the limit to 800 CZK before the auction starts. Another user also set a limit of 800 CZK, but after you. After the auction starts, the system will make the first bid of 800 CZK for you and you will be in the lead.
