CZadvokatinfo.cz, hint.cz, evca.cz, dro.cz, dobra-cukrarka.cz, hodinovymanzelaopravar.cz, zdravotnictvimedicina.cz, workinggroup.cz, wprint.cz, vsenasvatby.cz, but also otecrocku.cz, bublinastesti. cz, kachnicka.cz or vzhurunadno.cz - these and several thousand other domains with .CZ ending are waiting for new holders who can acquire them through the Domain Auction service. The CZ.NIC association launched this service at the beginning of May. The first auction of approximately 600 domains will take place on Thursday 16 May in the Domain Browser. 

As of mid-May, it will be possible to bid daily for cancelled or expired domains in the auction. The winners of the auctions will then have priority right to register them. The auction is open to citizens of the Czech Republic or EU countries who have a sufficiently verified electronic identity (MojeID or EU eID). The starting price for the priority right to register a domain is CZK 100. The complete list of domains included in the auction, including instructions on how to participate in the auction, can be found in the help center. 

"The most attractive deleted domains were often fought over, which, due to technical and administrative restrictions on access to the registry, could only take place between a few bidders. For this reason, we decided to open the market of deleted domains to all and offer the released domains at auction," says Martin Peterka, Chief Operating Officer of CZ.NIC, explaining the reason for the new service. "Thanks to this, everyone interested can get, for example, domains with a small number of characters or really attractive names that may be in great demand. After the end of the auction, the winner will then have a priority right to register the domain with those registrars that have already implemented auction support." 

Basic auction rules 

Bidders can find the list of domains from which to choose by logging in to the Domain Browser under the Future Auctions tab as early as 15 days before the auction starts. The auction will take place every day and will always start at noon and end at 9pm on the same day; if there is a last minute bid, the auction will be extended. The starting price for the preferential right to register a domain is one hundred crowns, and the bidding system works similarly to other auctions. The winner of the auction will then be able to register the domain with the chosen registrar within seven days of the auction and payment.
